Basic Herbal Medicine Making Workshop

The Basic Herbal Medicine Making Workshop includes a demonstration on; tincture and herbal oil making. Each student will make a; herbal oil, salve, tincture, lip balm and a felted soap. Each student will go home with; a vinegar, glyceride and alcohol tincture, herbal oil, salve, lip balm and a felted soap. There will be a class on March 2nd 2022. HopeSprings Presents a Workshop on Making your Own Body Care Products
Do you know what you are putting on your skin when you use a “healthy” body care product? We will each make and take home a; scrub, mask, cleansing cream, lotion, cream and lip balm. You will also take home a toner(over a $100 value). We will formulate our own products with our own skin type in mind using ingredients that are all healthy and totally eatable. This way you will know exactly what you are putting on your body. We will talk about; natural skin care, skin types, oils, toxic ingredients in skin care products. Bring your favorite skin care product and we discuss its contents.

Distillation Demystified
Discover the secrets of essential oil distillation in a copper 10 gallon still. Learn when and how to harvest flowers and plants, still construction and components, and the benefits of steam distillation. Students will participate in harvesting seasonal flowers and herbs, and will take home a hydrosol from the days distillation.  There will be several stills on display, some of which are home made.

Hope has taught herbal  classes at Petrolia High School, Mattole Triple Junction High School, Honeydew Elementary School and Petrolia Elementary School.  She has taught distillation at the Northern California Woman’s Herbal Symposium and in Oakland. Garberville, Arcata and Shelter Cove are places she has taught herbal classes and distillation classes. Last fall she taught a felting class at the North Coast Fiber Fair in Arcata California.
